Chapter 7

Geet (called out in a tear laden voice): Maan…

Maan (but his angel had really broken his heart beyond repair that day by pouring acid on his scared love, yes he was willing to sacrifice his life, his soul, his everything for her but he just couldn’t forget the accuses and abuses she had so mercilessly leashed out on his pure love calling it lust. He turned his face away not wanting to show her his tears): Tumhe mera pyaar meri havas lagta hai na (he said with so much pain in his voice that it pierced her already guilty heart) isiliye tumne mujhe islayak bhi nahi samja ki tum mujhe apni pareshani bat sako, mere saath apna dukh, dard baat sako, tumhe mera pyaar, meri wafa itni choti lagi, ki tumne socha ki mei (he couldn’t even speak that she thought that his love was so small that he just wanted to use her for his physical desires and she shook her head as tears of remorse rolled down her eyes) par bolo na tum aisa soch bhi kaise sakti thi ki mei…(he closed his eyes in unbearable pain as his heart bleed recalling her allegations and he continued to pour out the heart wrenching agony his Jaan had caused him) tum mujhe itna ghatiya, gira hua aur kamina insaan samajthi ho ki tumhe laga ki mei sirf tumhara istemal karna chahata hoon, hai na. (Her heart wept blood as she realized what agonizing pain she had caused her Maan) Batao na Jaan mere pyaar mei, meri wafa mei, meri ibadat mei aisi kaun si kami raha gayi thi ki tumhe mera pyaar itna swarthi aur matlabi laga (his head started spinning not able to bear the heart wrenching pain of her accusations anymore and combined with his physical condition he simply collapsed)

(You find my love my lust right (he said with so much pain in his voice that it pierced her already guilty heart) that is why you didn’t think me worthy enough to share your problems, you couldn’t even share you pain with me, you found my love, my faithfulness so small that you thought I (he couldn’t even speak that she thought that his love was so small that he just wanted to use her for his physical desires and she shook her head as tears of remorse rolled down her eyes) but tell me how could you even think that I…(he closed his eyes in unbearable pain as his heart bleed recalling her allegations and he continued to pour out the heart wrenching agony his Jaan had caused him) you consider me so horrible, so cheap, so sick that you thought I just want to use you, right. (Her heart wept blood as she realized what agonizing pain she had caused her Maan) Tell na Jaan where did I fail in my love, my faithfulness, my worship that you found my love to be so small and selfish (his head started spinning not able to bear the heart wrenching pain of her accusations anymore and combined with his physical condition he simply collapsed))

Geet (Screamed as she saw him fall unconscious): Maaannn…

Hearing her scream Rano Maa and nurse banged the door as it was still latched

Rano: Maan beta sab theek toh hai na…

(Maan beta, is everything alright)

Her voice jolted Geet and she somehow collected herself and with great effort managed to reach the door and opened it. They rushed inside and managed to place Maan on the other bed.

Nurse (shaking her head): Mujhe issi baat ka dar tha ki Mr. Khurana roj ki tarah phir se behosh ho jayenge and he is burning with fever, let me get his medication. (saying so she left to the injection and drip)

(This is what I was afraid of that Mr. Khurana will again fall unconscious like every night and he is burning with fever, let me get his medication.)

Geet (totally aghast hearing the nurse, as if in trance): Roj ki tarah, phir se (she looked at Rano as tears of guilt, remorse, extreme pain, anguish and helplessness flowed out of her eyes)

(Like everyday, again)

Rano (gently caressing her face): Haan beta (and she told how Maan was daily sacrificing his body, heart and soul in order to revive her. Her heart bleed as she realized the depth of his truly pure and divine love. Rano told how he was bleeding, limping, dying yet alive, dragging his aching body just for her sake, how he had sacrificed his entire being just for her and tears of unbearable pain trickled down her eyes as her soul burned in remorse at what heart wrenching agony she had unknowingly bestowed on him.)

(Yes beta)

Geet stayed by Maan’s side all night long, putting cold water strips so as to reduce his fever. Rano pleaded her to rest but she just wouldn’t budge from there, how could she after what all her Maan had undergone due to her and for her.

Rano: Beti, tu abhi poori tarah theek bhi nahi hui hai, tora sa toh aaram kar ke I will do it.

(Beti, you haven’t even recovered completely, rest for sometime at least, I will do it.)

Geet (as tears flowed non-stop): Nahi Maa… please mujhe mere Maan ke paas rahane do na… maine anjane mei apne Maan ka bahut dil dukhaya hai… mujhe nahi pata tha ki meri woh baate mere Maan ka dil chali kar dengi (and a sudden fear engulfed her as she hugged Rano by her waist) Maa… woh mujhe maaf toh kar denge na (and Rano realized that what all had transpired between Dadi and Maan that day was some kind of a misunderstanding and Geet had unknowingly been responsible for all of it. She realized Geet must have lied to Maan in order to conceal her illness and a new fond respect, love and admiration reflected in Rano’s eyes for her selfless divine son. Hearing no response from Rano her Geet almost died, almost crushing her in the hug) Aap chup kyun hai boliye na Maa… woh mujhe maaf toh kar denge na… (and she cried her heart out hugging Rano truly scared to lose her Maan jolting Rano out of her thoughts and she gently caressed her hair as if assuring her that all will be well)

(No Maa… please let me stay with my Maan… Unknowingly I have really hurt Maan… I didn’t know that my words would pierce my Maan’s heart.

Maa… he will forgive me right.

Why are you quiet, why are you not saying something Maa… he will forgive me right…)

Rano (breaking the hug and wiping her tears): Beta mujhe poora vishwas hai ki woh tujhe zaroor maaf kar dega… uska pyaar itna niswath hai ki woh toh tere liye hi tuj se naraz hai (and Geet’s soul screamed in uncontrollable pain ki usse yeh kya anarth ho gaya)

(Beta I have complete faith that he will surely forgive you… his love is so selfless that he is angry on you for you only (and Geet’s soul screamed in uncontrollable pain that what sin she had ended up committing))

Maan finally gained consciousness in the morning but his body was really sore as if it had finally given up knowing that now his Jaan’s treatment was over and she was recovering. He tried to get up but the pain was so unbearable that he just wasn’t able to and fell back. Geet who was still sitting by his side gently held him but he shrugged her away letting her know how angry he was.

Geet: Maan please… you will get hurt (she pleaded as she tried to help him again but Maan just raised his hand as if telling her to just stop and he turned to the other side facing his back to her making it pretty clear how offended he was, stabbing her already guilty heart.)

Rano had just entered the room with their breakfast and she placed a motherly hand on Geet’s shoulder urging her not to cry but try to manofy her rootha hua Jaan (to pacify her angry Jaan) and Geet nodded her head wiping her tears.

Geet (taking the breakfast from Rano): Acha… khana toh kha lijiye… (Ok… at least eat something)

Maan (he had seen Rano enter the room): Maa… aap isse keh dijiye mujhe isse koi bhi baat nahi karni hai…

(Maa… you tell her that I don’t want to talk to her…)

Geet: Acha aap ko baat nahi karni hai toh mat kijiye par mera gussa khane par kyun nikal rahe hai…

(Ok you don’t want to talk, then don’t talk but why are you taking out my anger on food…)

Maan (really angry on her, still showing his back to her): Maa… aap isse keh dijiye ki mujhe bhook nahi hai…

(Maa… you tell her that I am not hungry…)

Geet (almost pleading): Please Maan kuch toh kha lijiye na… aap ki davayi ka bhi time ho gaya hai…

(Please Maan eat something… it is time for your medicine also…)

Maan: Maa… aap isse keh dijiye ki mei bilkul theek hoon (he paused as he realized why the hell was she sitting there and why wasn’t she resting, she hadn’t even completely recovered): And Maa ask her why is she here, why isn’t she resting and did she have her breakfast (he knew she wouldn’t have eaten), she should be going for the physiotherapy session so if she doesn’t eat she will fall na. (he said it all in one go, his voice almost trembling in worry depicting how much he cared for her and fresh tears brimmed Geet’s eyes witnessing his selfless, unconditional and undying love and care for her)

(Maa… you tell her that I am perfectly alright)

Geet (trying to maintain a stern voice even as tears rolled down her eyes): Jab tak aap nahi khayenge mujhe bhi nahi khana (she knew this was the only way to persuade him as he won’t be able to see her hungry)

(Till the time you don’t eat anything, I also don’t want to eat)

Maan (Really furious at her for not taking care of his angel): Yeh kya bachpana hai… Maa… aap isse keh dijiye yeh yahan se chali jai bas aur chup chap apna khana kha kar physiotherapy ke liye chali jaye.

(What kind of childish behavior is this… Maa… you tell her that she just go away from here and silently eats food and goes for physiotherapy)

Geet: Jab tak aap kuch nahi khate mei yahan se kahi nahi jaongi bas (she said almost stamping her foot on the ground but obviously it hurt her and she winced in pain and Maan turned around not able to see his Jaan in pain. Also he knew she was as adamant as him and won’t go for her physiotherapy session.)

(Till the time you don’t eat anything, I am not going anywhere, that’s it)

Maan (sighing): Ok fine I will eat but that doesn’t mean I ain’t angry.

He exclaimed and Geet cutely nodded as if she got it all clear and very lovingly started feeding him but as soon as he had the first bit he raised his eyebrow as if saying you too eat and she obliged. And soon she started feeding one bite to him and one bite to herself and Maan was completely lost in drooling over his angel after all when was his heart in his control (wink Wink).

As the finished eating the doctor who had come to take Geet cleared her throat and Maan once again turned around to show his back to Geet depicting how angry he was and Geet just shook her head.

Maan had slept under the effects of the medication by the time Geet’s physiotherapy session ended and Rano urged Geet to also take rest. Rano sat beside her caressing her hair.

Geet (a tear rolled down her cheeks): Maa… aap sab ko kitni pareshani hui na meri wajah se… especially Maan, he had to suffer so much na (her soul flinched as if it was undergoing the pain that he had silently borne for so long and another tear rolled down her eyes. Her heart just wasn’t able to absorb what all her Maan had undergone all because of her both physically and emotionally)

(Maa… Due to me you all had to face so many problems… especially Maan, he had to suffer so much na)

Rano (wiping her tears not knowing how to console her when the nurse came in with Geet’s lunch): Beta ab sab bhool ja aur khana kha le… Babaji par bharosa rakh beta woh sab theek kar denge (and she very lovingly fed Geet and she soon fell asleep under the effects of the drugs)

(Beta, just forget everything now… have faith in Babaji and HE will set everything alright)

Rano too rested as she was awake whole night taking care of Maan as well as Geet.

It was late in the evening when Maan finally work up and Rano too had woken by then. Rano helped him and he sat taking the support of the headrest.

Maan (seeing Geet asleep): Maa… Geet ab kaisi hai, doctor ne kya kaha?

(Maa… How is Geet now and what did doctor say?)

Rano (overwhelmed at his absolutely divine love): Beta, she is much better now. Doctor is very pleased with her progress and was saying that we can take her home tomorrow but she will have to continue the physiotherapy sessions for a couple of months at home to be completely fit and fine (a sweet smile crept his lips, his angel will soon be alright and Rano was truly speechless at his undying love. He was so angry on her yet all he ever thought was about her happiness, her wellbeing, in fact his anger on her was also for not taking caring of herself only, for neglecting her health, for misunderstanding his love or rather not letting him take care of his Jaan and she had absolutely no words to express his completely out of this world love for his Jaan)

When the doctor (she was an old lady, someone like Dadima) came in to check up Maan.

Doctor: So, Mr. Khurana how are you feeling now?

Maan: I am much better doctor. Maa was saying that Doctor Kaushik will be discharging Geet tomorrow.

Doctor: Yeah but I would like you to stay in the hospital for a couple of more days.

Maan (completely taken aback): Kya??? (controlling himself): But why doctor?

(What???)

Doctor: Because you have a tendency to over exert yourself and fall unconscious every night, Mr. Khurana (she said really furious at him for again and again spoiling his health, and poor Maan was rendered completely speechless)

Actually all the hospital staff so much wanted him to stop ruining his health, in fact they even prayed for his well being, but had kept quiet as they knew only he could pull of the miracle of reviving his Geet. The nurse giggled LOL as the doctor scolded Maan and he gave her his famous MSK stare Angry shutting her up as she gulped hard “oops“.

Maan: But doctor…

Doctor (continued ignoring his protest, bechara Maan now-a-days no one listens to him hehe LOL): But I must say Mr. Khurara I have never seen such divine, selfless, unconditional, undying, true and pure love  in my entire life and I must say she is (pointing to Geet) truly blessed to have a guardian angel like you watching over her… may God bless the both of you (and Rano beamed in pride even as tears brimmed her eyes)

Rano: Doctor, I promise, I won’t let him exert at all but please discharge him, his Dadi is dying to meet him and she is not well enough to travel till here (and finally the doctor agreed)

Doctor: Theek hai Mrs. Handa, aap ki insistence par I am discharging him but make sure he take complete bed rest for the next five days with absolutely no physical exertion (and Rano nodded while Maan was like “Kahan phass gaya“)

(Ok Mrs. Handa, on your insistence I am discharging him but make sure he takes complete bed rest for the next five days with absolutely no physical exertion (and Rano nodded while Maan was like “Where the hell did I get stuck”))
