Dard-De-Dil Part 6

He rushed back to the hospital but Rano Maa was aghast to see his state, he was dripping water from head to toe, his trousers were all ripped, blood trickling down and he was covered with mud.

Rano (completely shocked as she rushed to him): Maan beta what have u done with yourself, go change fast you will fall ill (she exclaimed her voice laden with worry as she pushed his dripping self inside the washroom).

Maan quickly dried himself and changed his clothes after applying antiseptic to his hand and leg bruises. He came out and Rano Maa very lovingly fed him as she wiped his hair drying him but despite all that he started sneezing.

Rano (really worried): Beta aap ki tabiyat toh bahut karab lag rahi hai you are shivering beta.

(Beta, how health is really deteriorating, you are shivering beta.)

Maan: Maa mei bilkul theek hoon aap meri chinta mat kijiye, aap ghar jaiye.

(Maa, I am absolutely alright, please don’t worry about me, you go home.)

Rano: Nahi beta I am perfectly fine and Dadima is also little better so Annie will be able to take care, hence I am going to stay in the hospital only till you both get better. (Maan tried to interrupt but she didn’t let him continue) Mei ab aap ki ek nahi sunne wali beta, aap ne apni halat dekhi hai… humari toh jaan nikale ja rahi hai to see you like this suffering all alone.

(I am just not going to listen to you anymore, have you seen your condition… I am dying to see you like this suffering all alone)

Maan (was speechless at her love and couldn’t protest): Acha but at least rest toh kar lijiye, I will extract the oil till then. Please Maa (and she agreed)

(Ok but at least take some rest, I will extract the oil till then. Please Maa)

Rano rested in an adjacent room which was empty as Maan resumed his work sneezing profusely. He was literally shivering in high fever but still he relentlessly kept on working. Rano came when he had just finished extracting the oil and she rushed to him seeing him quivering.

Rano (touching his forehead): Beta aap ko toh bahut teej bukhar ho raha hai beta.

(Beta, you are running high fever)

Maan (shaking his head slightly trying to assure her): I am absolutely fine Maa please don’t worry.

Rano (really worried): Hum chinta kaise na kare beta your forehead is burning and look at yourself you are shivering with cold and fever. Wait I will bring dinner, first you eat and have medicine (Maan tried to interrupt he had to massage his angel) Nahi phele davai kaiye phir you massage her. (And Maan had to finally agree and Rano rushed to get food and medicine)

(How can I not worry beta your forehead is burning and look at yourself you are shivering with cold and fever. Wait I will bring dinner, first you eat and have medicine (Maan tried to interrupt he had to massage his angel) No first you take medicine then you massage her.)

As Rano was feeding Maan doctor came.

Doctor: Mr. Khurana I must say it is only due to your relentless efforts that your Geet has managed to finally walk on her legs today. And we are pretty sure she should be completely fine in a couple of days after which you can take her home and with continuous physiotherapy for a couple of months she will soon be able to do everything on her own.

After the doctor left Rano Maa kissed Maan on his forehead truly thanking him from the bottom of her heart to be there for her daughter in the worst phase of her life and even willing to sacrifice himself for her sake.

Maan: Maa aap bhi kaa lijiye aur aaram kariye mei Geet ko massage de deta hoon ab my fever is also better.

(Maa you also eat food and take rest I will massage Geet now my fever is also better.)

Rano maa left them and Maan massaged Geet for hours together. By the time he was done he was again shivering with high fever. And as he opened the latch he once again collapsed on the ground and the nurse and Rano Maa rushed to him.

Rano: Mujhe issi baat ka dar tha that he will again spoil his health (and they rushed him to the bed and Rano maa put cold water strips on his forehead and hands to reduce fever as the nurse gave him an injection both to reduce fever and a heat injection to give warmth to his shivering body)

(This is what I was afraid of that he will again spoil his health)

Thanks to Rano Maa Maan’s fever had reduced by the time he woke up and his eyes welled up to see his Maa who had fallen asleep sitting beside him, caressing his head even in sleep. He knew she had stayed awake all night putting cold water strips in order to reduce his fever and a tear escaped his eye as he kissed her hand knowing he could never thank her enough for her motherly love. Rano woke up and lovingly caressed his hair.

Rano: Beta aap uth gaye… ab aap ki tabiyat kaisi hai…

(Beta, you awake… now how are you feeling…)

Maan: Mei bilkul theek hoon par aap pori raat nahi soye na (fresh tears brimmed his eyes even though Rano shook her head denial) aur nahi toh kya, abhi abhi toh aap theek hua ho aise toh aap phir se beemar ho jaoge. Ab aap bas rest kijiye.

(I am absolutely fine but you didn’t sleep the whole night na (fresh tears brimmed his eyes even though Rano shook her head denial) I know you didn’t sleep, you have just got better, if you do like this then you will again fall sick. Now you just rest.)

Rano (caressing his face, wiping his tears): Beta aap chinta mat karo, I will take rest but you also rest na your fever has just gone down.

(Beta don’t worry about me, I will take rest but you also rest na your fever has just gone down.)

Maan (overwhelmed): Nahi Maa, bas do din aur phir meri angel ek dum theek ho jayegi, ab mei nahi ruk sakta, ab mei nahi tak sakta. Aap rest kariye, mei abhi aaya.

(No Maa just two more days to go and my angel will be completely well, I can’t stop now, I can’t get tired now. You rest, I will just be back.)

And Maan left to collect the flowers with a new vigor that his Jaan would soon be alright, he overcame all the obstacles of a shivering and aching body and somehow managed to climb the steep slope once again and gathered the healing flowers. He descended the slope really carefully as it was still slippery owing to the downpour the day before and he finally managed to land safely and rushed to the hospital.

By the time he reached his fever had returned and Rano Maa immediately feed him lunch along with the medicine before he once again started exerting himself extracting the oil and massaging Geet.

Once he was done, Rano again fed him dinner and he was truly overwhelmed at her love.

Maan: Maa aap ne rest toh kiya na, aap ki tabiyat theek hai na aur Dadi ki.

(Maa did you take rest and how is your and Dadi’s health.)

Rano: Beta mei bilkul theek hoon aur Dadi bhi ab phele se bahut behatar hai meri Annie se baat hui thi. Beta aap bas apna khayal rakhiye, chaliye bukar ki davai kha lijiye aap ka matha kitna tap raha hai aur jaldi se so jaiye.

(Beta I am perfectly fine and Dadi is also feeling much better than before, I just talked with Annie. Beta you just take care of yourself, come take the medicine for fever your forehead is burning and sleep fast.)

Today was the last day of the treatment and Maan climbed that dangerous mountain for one last time for his Jaan. Though his body was all numb and sore due to the never ending physical and mental torture he had been undergoing since the past few weeks and fever, he somehow managed to collect the flowers and safely reach back to the hospital.

As usual Rano Maa fed him and told him that doctor was saying Geet is very much better and was able to walk quiet comfortably on her own, and could be discharged in a couple of days. Maan’s face lit up that his angel was getting better and would be home soon.

She gave him fever medicine as due to the exertion his body was once again burning.

After which Maan started extracting the oil for one last time, now toh he no longer felt any pain as if he had gotten used to the excruciating pain in his peeled and bleeding palms and fingers. He very lovingly massaged his angel really happy that she was so much better now and would be discharged soon.

But today as he was pulling her salwar back up, Geet suddenly blinked her eyes and Maan immediately left her salwar as somewhere his heart feared what if she thought he had come to lust her again. Geet was shocked to see Maan there and tears of guilt poured down her eyes for how she had accused their pure love but then she feared what if he found out about her injury.

Geet (called out in a tear laden voice): Maan…

Maan (but his angel had really broken his heart beyond repair that day by pouring acid on his scared love, yes he was willing to sacrifice his life, his soul, his everything for her but he just couldn’t forget the accuses and abuses she had so mercilessly leashed out on his pure love calling it lust. He turned his face away not wanting to show her his tears): Tumhe mera pyaar meri havas lagta hai na (he said with so much pain in his voice that it pierced her already guilty heart) isiliye tumne mujhe islayak bhi nahi samja ki tum mujhe apni pareshani bata sako, mere saath apna dukh, dard baat sako, tumhe mera pyaar, meri wafa itni choti lagi, ki tumne socha ki mei (he couldn’t even speak that she thought that his love was so small that he just wanted to use her for his physical desires and she shook her head as tears of remorse rolled down her eyes) par bolo na tum aisa soch bhi kaise sakti thi ki mei…(he closed his eyes in unbearable pain as his heart bleed recalling her allegations and he continued to pour out the heart wrenching agony his Jaan had caused him) tum mujhe itna ghatiya, gira hua aur kamina insaan samajthi ho ki tumhe laga ki mei sirf tumhara istemal karna chahata hoon, hai na. (Her heart wept blood as she realized what agonizing pain she had caused her Maan) Batao na Jaan mere pyaar mei, meri wafa mei, meri ibadat mei aisi kaun si kami raha gayi thi ki tumhe mera pyaar itna swarthi aur matlabi laga (his head started spinning not able to bear the heart wrenching pain of her accusations anymore and combined with his physical condition he simply collapsed)

(You find my love my lust right (he said with so much pain in his voice that it pierced her already guilty heart) that is why you didn’t think me worthy enough to share your problems, you couldn’t even share you pain with me, you found my love, my faithfulness so small that you thought I (he couldn’t even speak that she thought that his love was so small that he just wanted to use her for his physical desires and she shook her head as tears of remorse rolled down her eyes) but tell me how could you even think that I…(he closed his eyes in unbearable pain as his heart bleed recalling her allegations and he continued to pour out the heart wrenching agony his Jaan had caused him) you consider me so horrible, so cheap, so sick that you thought I just wanted to use you, right. (Her heart wept blood as she realized what agonizing pain she had caused her Maan) Tell na Jaan where did I fail in my love, my faithfulness, my worship that you found my love to be so small and selfish (his head started spinning not able to bear the heart wrenching pain of her accusations anymore and combined with his physical condition he simply collapsed))

Geet (Screamed as she saw him fall unconscious): Maaannn…
